Date
November 2025
Project type
Graduate collection for Bachelor of Design in Fashion Technology and Design
In times of Ai advancement and dystopic technological advancement, OPERATION: YOUTHQUAKE reflects on the optimism once held towards scientific advancement from the 1960's. Using elements of retro-futurism and Mod fashion, colour, shape and form, and texture all combine together to fight against Meta bleakness and bring fun back into fashion.
My A/W 25 is “OPERATION: YOUTHQUAKE, coined in 1965 by then-Vogue Magazine’s editor-in-chief, Diana Vreeland, to describe the rise in emerging youth-culture. Technology, innovation, and pop-culture was on the rise, defining the new decade. OPERATION: YOUTHQUAKE is a blend of Mod and Space-Age fashion, with animated designs to remind you of the future that never actually happened.
I challenged myself to incorporate sustainability into 1960's fashion, through the use of natural and traditional fibres, deadstock fabrics, and re-purposing fabrics I already possessed.
